The community is mourning the loss of Seattle Fire Captain Craig Aman who lost his battle to kidney cancer on March 14.
The captain's passing is considered a line-of-duty death as kidney cancer is a recognized "presumption of occupational disease for the fire fighters," Seattle Fire Department Lieutenant Harold Webb said.
Aman spent his final hours surrounded by family in Eugene, Oregon, the Seattle Fire Fighter's Union, Local 27 said.
Aman joined the Seattle Fire Department in 1990 and was promoted to captain in 2016.
