Voters in the April 25 special election overwhelmingly agreed fire districts 14 and 18 (Stanwood and Kackman areas) should be dissolved.
In District 14, more than 86 percent of voters favored dissolution, while 83 percent of voters favored dissolution in District 18.
Both districts have received fire services from North County Regional Fire Authority (North County) since it formed in 2008, and will continue to do so.“Nothing changes in terms of service levels and providers,” said Chief John Cermak.
Cermak said the issue came about because North County organized under the initial legislation allowing fire authorities, which mandated that districts be maintained, even if they incorporated into a fire authority.
