A grain elevator caught fire Tuesday afternoon in Kalama, Cowlitz Fire officials said. No one was hurt in the fire. Reports of the fire came in just after noon at the Temco facility on the Columbia River. Cowlitz Fire Dit. 5 Chief Vic Leatzow called out a second alarm after seeing the thick smoke coming from the tower that offloads barges. Officials said a barge had just finished offloading, and a tug boat helped it move away from the fire.A total of 42 firefighters and crew members responded to help put out the fire. It was out by about 1:45 p.m.
