King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) named Erik Hicks the new fire chief on Monday, May 15.
Hicks, the former Everett Fire Chief and Renton High School graduate, started off volunteering at KCFD 20 “after realizing his career path in electrical engineering wasn’t for him,” according to a press release. He was hired at KCFD 30 in 1994, then later was hired at Everett Fire in 1999 where he worked his way up to a fire chief last year.
He said in the release this homecoming is “truly a blessing with emotions running high.”
