A two-alarm fire at a Bellevue apartment building damaged several units Wednesday morning and sent a column of black smoke towering over the city's Crossroads neighborhood.
Firefighters responded to the scene, the Woodside Apartments in the 16200 block of NE 14th Place, at about 7:50 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames spewing from the roof of the building.
Crews attacked the blaze and evacuated residents, with the assistance of the property manager.
One man was forced to jump from a second-story balcony after the flames prevented him from getting down the stairwell, said Lt. Brian Gomez of the Bellevue Fire Department.
