Brush fire near Wenatchee puts homes under Level 1 evacuation

A brush fire in Chelan County put about 20 homes under Level 1 evacuation notice along U.S. Highway 2 about five miles northwest of Wenatchee. Chelan County Emergency Management officials reported the fire was at about 500 acres Wednesday afternoon, burning just north of Highway 2 near the town of Monitor. Areas under Level 1 evacuations, meaning be ready to leave, included homes on the north side of Easy Street from Highway 2 to Lure Lane, and Lure lane and Mylius Road. Firefighters from Chelan County Fire District 6 and the state Department of Natural Resources and Bureau of Land Management are on scene.
