Two Skagit County fire districts had something to celebrate after Tuesday evening’s preliminary election results, while two others remained hopeful their luck might change.
With preliminary numbers in, voters in the Clear Lake and Big Lake areas were rejecting a proposal on behalf of Fire Districts 4 and 9 — the districts that represent the areas — to merge into one regional fire authority called Lakeside Fire and Rescue.
As of Tuesday night, the measure was failing, with 392 votes rejecting the proposal compared to 328 approving it.
