A man who fell down a steep embankment is recovering after a dramatic rescue overnight in Olympia. The incident unfolded late Wednesday near the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Cooper Point Road, the Olympia Fire Department says. A man lost his balance near the edge of a 20-foot retaining wall and plunged over the side. Olympia firefighters responded to the scene and found the injured man at the bottom of the slope. He was extricated and hoisted up using ropes and a Stokes basket. The man was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
