In an unfortunate scenario requiring a rope rescue, South Whidbey rescue teams might be found responding to instances in Central Whidbey and visa versa. South Whidbey Fire/EMS recently amended an agreement with Central Whidbey that increases rope rescue aid between the two districts. South Whidbey crews will now be automatically dispatched to situations requiring a rope rescue in Central Whidbey, and the crews up north will do the same. Both districts currently call the Navy in such situations. From now on, the Navy will be called if the fire districts need further assistance.
