A man suffered minor burns in a fire and explosion in northeast Spokane early Sunday morning. Fire crews were called to a home on East Bridgeport Avenue near North Rebecca Street around 12:40 a.m. after neighbors reported the sounds of an explosion and fire coming from the home. When firefighters arrived, they found the basement and first floor of the house were already heavily involved in the fire. Officials said the foundation of the home had extensive damage, making it unsafe for firefighters to enter. Authorities said crews were able to put out a majority of the fire from the outside. After crews looked at the home’s structural stability, firefighters quickly searched the home and confirmed no one was inside.
