Firefighters are calling a fire that broke out Tuesday morning at a vacant home "suspicious."
The fire was reported around 8:30 a.m. at 705 S. 16th Ave.
On arrival they found a fire at the rear of the house which had extended into the building's floor joists, according to a news release from the Yakima Fire Department. The fire was quickly knocked down, but not before causing an estimated $30,000 in damage to the home, according to the release.
Firefighters said the house had been boarded up before the fire, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
