Scott Sorenson will take over as the new chief of Clark County Fire District 3, after current Chief Steve Wrightson retires in November, according to the district.
The district board of commissioners chose Sorenson, who is currently an assistant chief at the district, from multiple regional applicants for the job.
Sorenson began his fire career in 1979 as a volunteer with District 3. He started full time in 1982, and worked as a career firefighter/EMT, lieutenant, captain, division chief, deputy chief then assistant chief. He worked as an EMT with North Country EMS, a firefighter at Clark County Fire District 10, and as a wildland firefighter with the state Department of Natural Resources.
