With the news of another mass murder coming all too soon after the Freeman High School shooting, emergency responders at Spokane Fire Department are saying they are confident they would be able to handle a mass casualty event, but hope it never happens here. "We train for them multiple times each year," said Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer. "We prepare for them daily." He said a tragedy like the shooting in Las Vegas will create a ripple effect throughout the United States as families learn about lost loved ones and emergency responders adapt to accommodate for the potential of a shooting of such magnitude happening in their areas.
