Firefighters have knocked down flames in a buildings at the Sunshine Motel on North First Street and are now in a mop up phase, pulling down sections of a ceiling to ensure the fire is completely out. The fire started in a dumpster and spread to one of the motel's detached buildings that contains several units. Residents of the building escaped without injury. A Yakima police detective is in route and there’s a strong suspicion regarding who started the fire in the dumpster, said Yakima Fire Department Shift Commander Mitch Cole. Yakima police say they have taken a female into custody for questioning, according to police spokesman Mike Bastinelli.
