McCleary fire damages former hospital building

A building in McCleary that was once home to Mark Reed Hospital caught fire just before 6 a.m. Monday, according to Grays Harbor Fire District 5. The damage to the building in the 300 block of South Birch Street was not extensive because a working sprinkler system helped to put out the fire. McCleary Fire Department responded to the fire and was assisted by Grays Harbor Fire District’s 5 and 12. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire units cleared the scene about 8:30 a.m.
