Authorities continue to investigate the cause of a Saturday afternoon apartment fire that injured two people, displaced dozens and caused approximately $30,000 in damage.
While the fire in an apartment on the third floor of building in the 300 block of West Yakima Avenue was contained to one room, there was considerable smoke damage to the entire third floor, according to a news release from the Yakima Fire Department.
"Investigators were on scene for approximately three hours sifting through the fire room," the Sunday morning release said. "They will be continuing their investigation over the next few days trying to piece together the events that occurred prior to the fire starting."
