An early morning fire forced at least eight people and two dogs from a Tacoma home on Thursday morning, according to the the Central Pierce Fire Department. The fire started in the basement of the home off of 68th Street and burned holes in the floor, said spokesman Brian Levings. Firefighters responded at 3:17 a.m. The cause of the fire is not yet known and the floor is unstable and preventing access by firefighters, said assistant chief Guy Overby. KIRO reported a couple and a baby were among the people who evacuated the home.
