Rain and cooler temperatures helped firefighters as they continue to battle the Jolly Mountain Fire. Fire officials say the blaze burning about six miles northwest of Cle Elum is about 40 percent contained, scorching an estimated 38,800 acres. Crews continue to patrol for hotspots and strengthen fire lines. Fire growth is expected to be minimal as the fire has reached containment lines on the east, south and west flanks. The fire has been transitioned back to a Type 3 local team.
