Fire destroyed a home north of Kendall early Thursday. Chief Jerry DeBruin of Whatcom County Fire District 14 said the double-wide mobile home was a total loss in the 3:18 a.m. fire at 8657 Valley Court, east of Kendall Road. “The back bedroom window had broken and flames were shooting out” when firefighters arrived, DeBruin said. “There was heavy black smoke. We got in and knocked it down, but it was a total loss.”
