With the resignation of Arlington's Fire Chief Bruce Stedman, Deputy Fire Chief Dave Kraski will be named acting fire chief and the City Council was asked this week to approve a professional services agreement with former Deputy Fire Chief Tom Cooper to provide consulting support to the fire department. Council is voting this week to approve amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan that have been in discussion during the past year and more. When the 2015 plan was presented to Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) for review, PSRC noted some inconsistencies in the plan, including reconciliation of the city’s buildable lands analysis with Snohomish County Tomorrow (SCT); revisions to the transportation plan non-motorized transportation plan and the multi-year transportation financing plan to be consistent with land use. PSRC granted Arlington “conditional certification” of its 2015 Comprehensive Plan on the condition that the city works to accommodate PSRC’s recommendations.
