Although the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks occurred before the fifth-graders in Todd Hausman’s class at Bay View Elementary School were born, he wants his students to know how those events changed the world as many Americans knew it.
“(It’s really important) to remember 9/11 and make sure that students understand that that was such a significant day in our history,” Hausman said.
On Sept. 11 of this year, Hausman’s students discussed that infamous day and made cards to honor first responders, such as the more than 400 firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and police officers who died in the attacks.
