Firefighters battled a huge fire that destroyed a home in Kingston Friday night. The flames were so intense, they could be seen by ferry passengers and from people across the water in Edmonds. According to North Kitsap Fire and Rescue, crews had difficulty getting to the scene due to narrow road access. They also had trouble getting water on the fire due to a lack of fire hydrants in the area. Crews said the fire wasn't reported until the house was fully engulfed. Officials believe the wind and the home's cedar shake siding and limited interior sheetrock may have been a factor in the fire's rapid growth, according to a North Kitsap Fire and Rescue press release.
