Yakima firefighters responded to what they described as three suspicious fires over the weekend, including a Sunday fire that left a firefighter injured. Fire Lt. Cody Burton was hurt when he fell through the floor of a house at 1510 Cornell Avenue around 9: 20 a.m. Sunday morning, according to a fire department news release. Burton was taken to Astria Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for five broken ribs and a punctured lung in the fall, the release said. Sunday’s call was the second time that weekend firefighters had been called to the Cornell Avenue home, according to the release. Firefighters went to the house at 4:20 p.m. Saturday after smoke was spotted coming from the attic and gable ends of the vacant house, the release said.
