Firefighters in Richland are helping those who need some extra food on the table.
Richland Fire & Emergency Services is joining 2nd Harvest Friday, April 6, at the Uptown Parking Lot to hand out free produce and nonperishable products to the community.
The firefighter's Community Outreach Program partnered with 2nd Harvest to organize the mobile market, which includes nearly 8,500 pounds of food items. According to a press release from 2nd Harvest, hunger is an issue for many in Benton and Franklin Counties, with one in every nine people struggling with hunger, including one in every five children.
