A man was killed early Friday after he drove his car off a beachfront road near Bremerton and plunged into the tidal waters along the Port Washington Narrows. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, in the 2600 block of Tracyton Beach Road NW, at about 4:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle in the water, said Lt. Mike Davis of the Bremerton Police Department. The first two people at the crash scene, a police officer and a civilian, found the car flipped over on its top along the shoreline with the passenger compartment submerged in 4 or 5 feet of water. The two were able to extricate the driver, a man in his 30s, out of his seat belt and get him out of the vehicle, Davis said. Medics arrived on scene and performed CPR as they rushed the man to the Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. He was later pronounced dead. Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors to the crash, Davis said.
