A 48-year-old woman in mental crisis, who reportedly was about to be evicted from her Bremerton house, was hospitalized late Monday after allegedly dousing the interior in gasoline and setting in on fire. Bremerton police responded to a report of a woman breaking windows at a house near the corner Fifth Street and Chester Avenue at about 3:50 p.m, according to Lt. Mike Davis. When police arrived, the woman barricaded herself inside the house and refused to come out. Davis said the woman was reportedly about to be evicted. A Bremerton police officer and a Kitsap Mental Health case worker tried to convince her to leave the home for several hours. Police eventually left the scene after determining she was not a threat to anyone else, Davis said.
