After an almost two-year process, a new live fire training facility will soon be available for Pasco firefighters and departments in the surrounding regions.
"It's great to be getting this put together and it's wonderful for the Pasco Fire Department and the city to have this facility here," said Pasco Fire Chief Bob Gear. On Friday, cranes were used to start stacking metal containers that are part of the new burn prop at the Pasco Fire headquarters on East Ainsworth Street. The prop was mostly paid for by a FEMA grant and around ten agencies are sharing the rest of the cost - about 10 percent total. The total cost of the project is about $525,000 and that includes two smaller versions of the training prop being built in Benton City and Kennewick.
