It's been almost a week since the devastating Bofer Canyon Fire that ripped through South Kennewick, burning down five homes. Action News spoke with one of the families that escaped within minutes of the flames consuming their home, thanks to an off-duty firefighter, who also happened to be the family's son. Stephen Smith says, "I almost get choked up talking about it... he's wonderful." Stephen Smith is describing his stepson, Tyler Miller, who he says saved his life during the Bofer Canyon fire, that burned his 1979 cedarwood home just days ago. Tyler, who has been with Benton County Fire District 1 for over a year, had just got back from a 9-day deployment, fighting fires across our region. Benton Co. Fire District #1 Firefighter Tyler Miller says, " Once I got home I took a couple days to rest, hang out with my family and my girlfriend."
