Grant County Fire Marshal Bruce Gribble says a teenager has admitted to starting Wednesday’s wildfire that damaged several structures near Soap Lake. One residence and three outbuildings were lost in the about 20-acre blaze started behind a home at 20070 Road B.5 Northeast. A pile of lumber also caught fire. The fire quickly spread north through wildland, affecting traffic along state Route 28 about a mile east of Soap Lake, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office. The teenager was questioned and reportedly admitted to starting the fire. Gribble said the fire marshal’s office continues to investigate how and why the fire was started.
