Millions of dollars and a new fire station are up in the air for the city of Kennewick.
This week city council will vote on their biennial budget. If it passes, it will bring many changes to the Kennewick Fire Department.
Kennewick is a city impacted by fire--it was just few months back the Bofer Canyon fire torched homes and threatened lives in the south Kennewick. “We're a growing community, and we want to be proactive,” Kennewick Fire Chief Vince Beasley said.
As more families move to Kennewick, Beasley said they have to step up their services.
That's why the city's budget is adding 12 new firefighter positions--thanks to a FEMA grant.
