An art studio in Edison was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon. Christine Wardenburg-Skinner, who owns the studio with her husband Tom Skinner, said she was at home on the property when she heard an explosion about 3:30 p.m. in the neighboring studio. “It’s just a complete, total loss,” she said. Units from Skagit County fire districts 5, 6 and 14 responded to the scene near the intersection of Mactaggart Avenue and Main Street. Armed with hoses, neighbors were the first to the scene, Wardenburg-Skinner said. Sarah Smith said she and another neighbor ran to the studio and began watering the area down in an effort to protect the nearby houses. “We were just trying to keep it from spreading,” Smith said.
