A 66-year-old man is dead after the vehicle he was driving left the road and hit a tree.
Daniel Huntingford of Port Townsend was pronounced dead at the scene Monday afternoon.
The single-vehicle wreck occurred on South Discovery Road near Olympic Boulevard, just south of the intersection with Cape George Road. Firefighters and law enforcement arrived at the scene at 12:29 p.m. to find an unconscious male trapped inside a gray Toyota T100. Personnel worked to extricate the victim from the cab, which was heavily damaged on the passenger side.
East Jefferson Fire-Rescue Public Information Officer Bill Beezley said rescuers did not find a pulse when they arrived on scene, and began cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which proved to be unsuccessful.
“When deciding to do CPR, a lot of the decision is based on the condition of the patient,” Beezley said. “The victim was unconscious when he was pulled from the wreck.”
