A 42-year-old man, who said he was lost for three days without food or water, was rescued from the Black River in Thurston County on Monday, according to West Thurston Fire.
Firefighters received 911 calls around 5:30 p.m. after people heard a man yelling for help in the river, near 173rd Ave. SW in Rochester.
Crews from West Thurston Fire and the Thurston County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene.
They said the river's conditions and underbrush made it difficult to get to the man.
