A man was killed Tuesday evening when a fire broke out in his mobile home in Puyallup. The fire broke out just before 5 p.m. in the 10400 block of 160th Street Court, said Guy Overby with Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. A neighbor called 911 to report smoke and flames coming from the trailer. Three men came over to help and found the 52-year-old victim on fire sitting on his scooter outside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Overby said the victim was disabled and firefighters had been to his home before. They had noticed the man did not have smoke detectors in the mobile home and had offered to install one, but he refused, Overby said. Officials said the man also had issues with hoarding.
