A hotly debated cell phone tower will be going up in Anatone. Asotin County commissioners made the final decision Monday morning on recommendation from the Planning and Zoning board. Weis Towers and Inland Cellular now have final approval to build the 299-foot tall tower on Anatone's Grider Lane. At a planning and zoning meeting earlier this month, several residents voiced concerns about the eyesore the tower would be among the heavily-wooded landscape. But others, including Asotin County Fire Chief Noel Hardin, say having cell service would shine a light on this communication "dark spot" and prove invaluable for public safety. Commissioners agreed.
