Four people and a pet were able to escape safely from a fire burning in a carport attached to a house near Bothell early Wednesday morning. The fire began at about 4 a.m. in the 20200 block of 45th Dr. SE, located in North Creek, just northeast of Bothell. Snohomish County Fire District 7 said a 10-year-old was among the four people who got out of the home while the carport burned. Crews also rescued a kitten during their search of the building. The fire did not spread to the home or attic. The homeowners should be able to return to the home later today. The cause is under investigation.
