A pair of truck drivers managed to escape from a dramatic semi fire early Friday morning. The fire began about 2 a.m. in the cab portion of a tractor trailer while the truck was near Highway 221 outside of Prosser. The drivers escaped and disconnected the loaded trailer before the blaze engulfed the cab, said West Benton Fire and Rescue officials. One suffered minor smoke inhalation. Firefighters arrived in time to keep the blaze from spreading. Benton County sheriff’s deputies also responded. The cause is under investigation.
