Thieves broke into the work site of the new Stevens County fire station in Suncrest and stole an 80-gallon air compressor Sunday night. Investigators say the thief or thieves used a grinder or torch to cut into a storage unit to reach the compressor. Officials say the Eagle 7.5 horsepower, 24.6 CFM, 80-gallon compressor was still shrink wrapped and on a pallet. Investigators believe the thieves drove across a field along Highway 291 and may have also damaged the undercarriage of their truck. Nothing else on site is missing.
