A fire Sunday caused extensive smoke damage to the Western Building on West Broadway Avenue in Moses Lake. Moses Lake Fire Chief Brett Bastian said the fire was reported by a passerby on the activity trail along Neppel Park who noticed smoking coming from the back of the commercial building. Firefighters arrived to find to all the doors locked to the building and nobody inside. The fire caused structural damage to the basement where the blaze appears to have started, and heavy smoke damage to the first and second floors.
