Benton County Fire District #1 has had their hands full with fire calls this summer, but another thing keeping them on their toes is medical calls. The problem is they don't have any ambulances to take of them. BCFD #1 is asking residents to vote on a levy that would help them get two ambulances and hire personnel to staff them. Fire Chief Lonnie Click says the district receives about 850 medical call every year. For each medical call, they have to use mutual aid, which usually comes from the Kennewick Fire Department. Click says having two ambulances would help them with their response time since every second can be life or death.
