Firefighters were called shortly after 6:20 p.m. to 1203 Pomona Road for a house fire, where they were told someone was possibly still inside, according to a news release from Selah Fire Department.
Firefighters from Selah and the U.S. Army’s Yakima Training Center found the building on fire, and located a man later identified as Mark Peck inside the burning building, the release said. Fire officials said Peck was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to revive him.
The Yakima County Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
