A Port Hadlock man was left homeless after an early Thursday morning fire destroyed his home in the 3700 block of Oak Bay Rd. There were no injuries, according to a news release from East Jefferson Fire Rescue. The victim’s name was not readily available. EJFR was toned to the fire at 5:08 a.m. after the man returned from a quick trip to the grocery store and found his home fully engulfed in flames. He then called 9-1-1 from his mobile phone. EJFR firefighters were joined by crews from Naval Magazine Indian Island, Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue and Quilcene Fire Rescue in fighting the fire in the woodframe structure and adjacent shed, which also caught fire.
