Authorities in Grant County have lifted all evacuation notices as crews work to contain a wildfire burning grass and brush in Central Washington. Fire officials said Wednesday that one small outbuilding was lost but no injuries have been reported. The wildfire has burned about 3 square miles in a sparsely populated area north of the city of Soap Lake. The blaze is about 50 percent contained. The Grant County Sheriff's office on Wednesday lifted all evacuation notices. About 50 residents had previously been told to leave immediately or get ready to leave. The fire started Monday afternoon. The cause is under investigation.
