Hundreds of firefighters will head to class at Deer Park High School this week for hands-on training and interactive lessons as part of the Eastern Washington Interagency Fire Training Academy. About 350 firefighters from 14 different organizations will join together for leadership classes, wildfire attack plan simulations and helicopter training. At Sunday's training, firefighters spent the day at eight different sand table stations working on wildfire response plans. "We're able to pause, think through our steps, figure out what tactics we want to take, and be able to adjust those," said firefighter Anjel Tomayko. "It brings us all together on one page so that we're able to collaborate and talk together."
