A 21-year-old Selah man is accused of setting four fires in Yakima early Sunday morning.
Investigators identified the suspect from surveillance videos showing someone matching his appearance moving between the fire scenes shortly before 6 a.m., as well as at a nearby convenience store after the fires were set, according to a police affidavit.
Authorities said the fires were lit within minutes of each other at abandoned houses at 509 W. I St. and 713 N. Sixth Ave., Mariscos El Nayarita Mexican Restaurant at 601 Fruitvale Boulevar and a dumpster at the apartments located at 810 N. Sixth Ave. Firefighters first went to the restaurant fire, which officials said started in the alley and spread into the building’s attic. While there, crews spotted the fire at the West I Street house, and then the one on North Sixth Avenue.
