Five people managed to escape from a fire that destroyed one mobile home and damaged a second one early Monday in Kent.
Crews responded to the scene, in the 24400 block of 64th Avenue South, at about 5:05 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames at a residence there.
The home was already fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The heat was so intense that it damaged several vehicles parked nearby and a second home about 20 feet away. Crews managed to extinguish the blaze, but two pet dogs were reported missing afterward.
In addition to fighting the fire, the first on-scene crews also had to deal with a neighbor’s dog which had bitten a person near the blaze. That person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The dog was restrained by Kent police.
