Firefighters quickly contained a garage fire Tuesday morning, preventing further damage to a Camas home. Multiple fire engines were dispatched to 4530 Northwest Dahlia Drive, a home near Lacamas Lake, about 8:35 a.m., according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian. A total of 24 firefighters with the Camas-Washougal and Vancouver fire departments and East County Fire and Rescue helped with the response. When crews arrived, they found a fire with thick black smoke coming from an attached garage of the home, the Camas-Washougal Fire Department said in a press release. “The fire was rapidly controlled and extinguished,” the release says. “There was no extension (of the fire) to the attached home and no damage to surrounding residences.” However, the contents of the garage, including at least one vehicle, were badly damaged by fire and smoke, according to the fire department.
