After serving in the Yakima Fire Department for over 30 years Lieutenant Hans Solie and firefighter Jay Elmo are retiring. Today was the last day for the firefighters and their fellow colleagues treated them to a farewell party. Aside from being a firefighter Lieutenant Solie was an adjunct instructor for YVCC Fire Science Program and was also a fire investigator. Firefighter Jay Elmo will be working for a non-profit organization for youth firesetting. Lt. Solie said he feels fortunate to do his job for 32 years. “I worked with great guys, it’s been fun and an exciting career,” said Lt. Solie.
