A raging two-alarm fire destroyed a 109-year-old grain storage facility early Wednesday just outside of Kent's southern limits.
Several crews responded to the blaze at the White River Feed Co., in the 27600 block of 78th Avenue South, at around 5:15 a.m., said Kyle Ohashi of the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority.
Several buildings on the property were fully engulfed in flames when the first responders arrived, Ohashi said.
Fighting the blaze was a challenge due to its intensity. Several hydrants were needed to provide enough water to battle the flames.
At its peak, firefighters were dumping 2,000 gallons of water a minute onto the fire.
All employees at the business are reportedly safe and accounted for, Ohashi said.
