The cost associated with house fires in Redmond is decreasing thanks to the City’s mandatory residential fire sprinklers for all newly built homes. One household off Northeast 114th Way in Redmond saved over $100,000 in fire damages this past Tuesday. With the help of the home’s sprinkler system, fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire coming from the garage and burning car inside. “With the automatic activation of the residential fire sprinkler system, this fire event was quickly and successfully contained to the garage,” said Fire Marshall Todd Short. “This is a great example of the benefits of residential fire sprinklers and the reason that Redmond adopted a requirement for fire sprinklers in all newly built homes since 2007.” There were no reported injuries and the cause of fire is still under investigation.
